The big advantage is the combination of 20× zoom, relatively wide 7.8mm starting point and 156mm telephoto, while remaining compact enough for shoulder-mounted and mobile production.
The built-in extender takes it all the way to 312mm, giving you substantial reach for sports and live events. Canon specifically says it maintains 4K optical performance when the extender is engaged.
Typical applications:
- Sports broadcasting
- Outside broadcast/OB
- News and ENG/EFP
- Concerts and live events
- Documentary production
- Studio/field production
- Long-distance coverage
